Something about me...
Okay, I guess I should write something about me in this chapter.
So here we go:
In 1986 a 3D possessed boy was born
in Leipzig (Germany), this one was me, Mirko Hänßgen.
At the age of five, when other children used to beat each other
to get a sand shovel, I made my first steps
using „Turbo Paint“ at the PC..
It was great fun, since you don't get
your hands dirty in comparison to wax crayons. :)
A couple of years later I was given an adventure-creator software
as a Christmas present by my parents which also included a
ray tracer (Povray) and I got hooked on 3D graphics.
In 2002 when a friend showed me Cinema 4D Version 7,
I knew what I wanted to do and so I practiced
all the "3D disciplines (modeling, texturing, rendering etc.)"
nearly every day after school.
After social service in a church I had to choose
between working as a caretaker-assistant or
starting a practical training in a game-studio.
This was a very difficult question... guess what I did!
I started working at FAKT-Software as a trainee in summer 2005.
After that I continued working for helping to create
3D-models and textures for game titles like Gunship: Apocalypse
or Crazy Machines 2.
In 2005 I also started studying Computer-Science with the main emphasis
on digital media at the University of Applied Sciences in Leipzig.
Though I wouldn't consider myself a programmer I thought it would be good
to know something about the technical side of 3D applications.
After two years working for FAKT-Software I started an internship
at Rocketbox Studios in 2007 until 2008.
It was a great time in Hannover and I appreciated learning lots of
new things about texturing, rigging and animating.
Nowadays I'm no more using Cinema4D but a combination of Silo,
Zbrush, 3DS Max and Photoshop.
There's so much to do every day and I wish the day had 48 hours,
but it's really important for me to compensate for computer graphics
with sports, friends or traditional arts.
Cheers "ko'gen".
